the big apple

Come and meet those dancing feet,

On the avenue I'm taking you to,
Forty-Second Street.
Hear the beat of dancing feet,
It's the song I love the melody of,
Forty-Second Street.

Little "nifties" from the Fifties,
Innocent and sweet;
Sexy ladies from the Eighties,
Who are indiscreet.

They're side by side, they're glorified
Where the underworld can meet the elite,
Forty-Second Street.

- 42nd Street

-my new spring break plans

Holy Cow!  I am off to New York today!  It was a really last minute decision that we would leave for The Big City on Tuesday and come back on Friday, so I don't have any blog posts to run.  But it's 10:09 today on Tuesday and I am so excited I can't even stand it.  I'm like a little kid who gets to go to the fair for the first time.
I have been to The Big Apple before; 3 years ago.  I feel like it's really time to go back, though.  WE are only there for a short time but we will b doing anything and everything.  We will go see the freedom towers, see a couple shows, do some eating, shopping and some more.  We aren't sure yet what shows we want to see.  Because I am a musical freak we will see AT LEAST two.  Three that are on our list are Avenue Q, Jersey Boys, and Anything Goes.

-the shows

I am in love with Avenue Q.  I have been since I heard the musical a year ago.  Everything is so comical and funny!
MY Theatre Company is doing Anything Goes this summer which makes me even more excited to see it.  I really want to see it so that I can get a feel for the show that I have an opportunity to be in.
And lastly, Jersey Boys.  I really don't know much about it, but everyone tells me that it is  must see so I am pretty excited to look into that one too!
     Do you have any ideas?

-the dj's choice

Lastly, I really wanted to share the reason why I choose the song 42nd Street, the title song from it's musical.  First of all, the musical that I was in was a life-changing experience.  But also, it shows the differences in time periods and styles.  It is a welcome to the world of theatre.

I hope you all are enjoying, or have a good Spring Break!

30 Day Photo Challenge - Post 3

Wow!  I have a lot of catching up to do on my 30 Day Photo Challenge!  It's going pretty well on my facebook!  It really is quite fun to post all these fun pictures!  It's really hard, though, to make sure that I pick the BEST POSSIBLE photo.  Well.  This post will have photos 4-8!  Here we go!

Day 4 - A picture from you favorite night.

Sweeney Todd.  Can you tell I'm still wishing I was there? :)  But really, These were some of the greatest nights of my life!

From L-R: Sarah Kurtz, Jack Ellis (me)

Day 5 - A picture of your favorite memory.

Playing the role of Christopher Belling in Curtains!  That was such a wonderful experience that I truly wouldn't trade for the world!  I miss it so much, and I thought it was going to be the top of my career, but it was only the first pebble at starting to build up a mountain.

Day 6 - A picture of someone you want to trade places with for a day

MICHAEL DAMENSKI.  Billy Elliott, Broadway, Mari Moroz's future husband, an amazing, singer, actor, dancer, and inspiration.

Day 7 - A picture of you and a friend.

A great friend, Annie Metzger.  She moved about 40 minutes away a few months ago and I miss her tremendously.  She is a great friend and an even better "super hot girlfriend".

Day 8 - A picture that makes you laugh.

I love my friends.  Even though I wasn't there, this is the exact thing that I would imagine them doing.  They are funny, smart, weird, and all true mentors to me in all aspects of life.

funny girl!

Don't tell me not to live,

Just sit and putter,
Life's candy and the sun's
A ball of butter.

Don't bring around a cloud
To rain on my parade!

- Fanny Brice; Funny Girl

So the theatre company, Blue Water that I do a lot of shows through is doing Funny Girl right now and I'm still trying to convince my mom to at least let me be in the ensemble.  I want to so bad!  Its ridiculous!  The show is great and a bunch of my friends got called back for parts!

Most importantly, my friend Kara.  She has been by my side thought thick and thin and always helped me.  She got called back for the three main females!  I'm so proud of her and I'm so happy that she is getting an opportunity to show herself.  She is such a talented actress and I can't wait to see her shine on stage!

I'll be sure to tell you all how the cast list goes (especially in Kara's view) soon!  Check out her block by clicking here! HERE! hErE! or HeRe!

Also, I'll be sure to tell you if my mom lets me be in it :)
